More music!

Stand By Me and Message in a Bottle are up on the music page. I screwed something up exporting them though, and they're a bit too fast and high. Personally I think I might prefer it as it is. See what you think. Click the music link to the right.

Edit: The files themselves aren't the problem - right click on the line in the flash player and choose download file, and it will give you the MP3 at the proper speed. Not sure why it's not playing like that in the flash player, but I'll try to fix it later in the week.

This comes a little late, but well done on the redesign! It looks great, although I do miss the little Matt figure with the guitar. And unlike me, you took perhaps a few weeks to pull it off, as opposed to five years.

A day, but I'm using blogger, a flickr plug in, lots of pre-made stuff basically. You're actually designing yours properly.

Any feedback on the music? Praise is always welcome, but criticism is probably more valuable at this stage, while I get my head round, well, everything...

Off the top of head, listening via laptop sound (but with good earphones) while a bit sleepy on a Sunday morning (i.e. not sure anything I'm saying is reliable):

Back In Black (lo-fi take): I like this!

Ziggy and Back In Black alternate take: The balance between the vocals and the instrumentation seems a bit off to me, like the vocals are slightly too prominent in the mix. Especially with Ziggy, some of the more emphatic bits come across a bit flat (not pitch-wise, I just mean how the sound feels) and harsh.

Message In A Bottle: Nice! Except that in recorded music, I tend to notice where the pitch of any note isn't perfect - is "bot" in "Message in a bottle" a bit flat?

Stand By Me: Hmm, am not wild about the bass backing. I think it needs to be more perfectly pitched and precisely timed in order to form a solid foundation for the rest of the track. I think the harmonies could also be more effective at some places (eg. for "Darling, darling, stand by me" thirds don't sound like the most pleasing interval). AND IS THAT A KAZOO???!

I think you're spot on with everything there. I'll keep working on it, and have something new soon!
