Have at ye!
This morning I sent off my cheque for a beginner's fencing course. I'll be improving my swordplay every Monday evening from next week, for 6 weeks. Having watched The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended version) yesterday, I can see just how useful being able to use a sword could be. One day, it may even save the world...

But you do realize that in the end you'll have made a hellish trip across the world on your bare, furry feet enduring unimaginable perils and losing dear friends, only to realize that you could have just got a flipping eagle to fly you there, right?

Yes, but the results would have made a pretty boring book:
"Tis the one ring!" said Gandalf.
"Really?" said Frodo, "What does this mean?"
"Tell you what" said Gandalf, "I'll tell you when I get back, tomorrow. Seen any eagles around here?"
And the ring was destroyed and everyone lived happily ever after. And Sam never proposed to Rosie, and Frodo kept all his fingers, and the Dwarves and Elves continued to live in dischord.
